One of the first short film scripts I wrote. We found the lead actress, Ana Alexander, in L.A. through a friend and she is the lead actress in O2.
Fond Memories of Fat Monster Films
Two friends and I founded Fat Monster Films back in 2007 when I was living in L.A. We had a wonderful time shooting commercials, music videos and some pilots for Warner Brothers studios. We also made a number of our own short film projects and I settled into the role of writer/producer while my buddies handled Directing, Editing and physical production aspects. One of my favorite projects was this six minute short film titled "O2." We called in a bunch of favors and were able to shoot using a spaceship set that had been used for Firefly (my favorite scifi series) for free. I also talked Dragon Dronet, who is quite known for his special effects work, into donating all of our props and spacesuits and we got Levy Isaacs to be our cinematographer (Levy was director of photography on television's Malcolm in the Middle and also the cult movie Troll.) We got good prominent actors willing to work in exchange for us cutting promo footage for them and we won a number of awards with the short.
I found this old reel that I think must be from around 2010. After we disbanded I forgot to pay the domain expense and some porn producers grabbed the domain. So it is kind of embarrassing that periodically people who visit the domain find a porn site these days (although about half the time it returns a 404 error). Anyway, you can see an assortment of our projects. The Iraqi war project starred Tom Sizemore from Saving Private Ryan but after a day's shooting the fucker bailed and absconded with our money. It is a funny story now, but it was a hell of a mess at the time!
